"The ones who run the show stay in power by using fear to divide and conquer. “A house divided against itself can not stand,” Abraham Lincoln. The reality is that we are all children of God made in his image. God created this earth, indeed this universe, and declared that it was good, that it was beautiful. Those in control don’t want us to know that we are powerful beings. When we stop despoiling this earth, when we realize that we are holy beings, when we act with compassion toward everyone, only then will Mountaineers be Free."

Michael Davis is standing up for you and he needs you to stand up for him. The primary is May 8th, please vote for Michael Davis. Please contribute $10 to help get the word out. I am Congressional Candidate Michael Davis from Elkins, WV. I am running in the State’s Second Congressional District for the seat now occupied by the incumbent, Shelley Capito. I am running because in this time of unprecedented economic, environmental, and social crisis, our government is embarrassingly dysfunctional. And during Ms. Capito’s twelve years in office, things have only gotten worse. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I’m not afraid of hard work. I have started and run two businesses. I recognize that all of us are in the same boat and going to suffer the same fate if our government continues it's recklessness. My motto is that I am 100% for the 100%. We have become so consumed with blaming the other side that the big boys totally escape scrutiny. We let the fox guard the hen house and the fox laughs all the way to the bank. My ideas will benefit everyone, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. If you want a representative with fresh energy and ideas, someone who knows how to get things done, vote for Michael Davis in the May 8th primary.

Compare and Contrast

Congressional Candidate Michael Davis
Fresh energy and new ideas
For the people

1. DEMOCRACY: What we have now is Government by the wealthy and for the wealthy. I will rein in the lobbyists and get big money out of politics so we can have government by the people and for the people once again.

2. BALANCING THE BUDGET: I will work to bring the troops home from all over the world and cut defense spending. I will end Welfare for the Wealthy and the unfair tax system that favors them. I would legalize medical marijuana and tax it. I will work to make Medicare sustainable and work better by promoting practical reform.

3. JOBS AND THE ECONOMY: I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Since I was ten, I’ve always worked. I worked my way through college. I have four children. So I know what it takes to support a family. I’ve started and still run two businesses. I want an economy that works for everyone, not just the few at the top. I have practical ideas for creating good jobs for good people.

4. OUR VETERANS: Our soldiers should not face more hardship when they return home. Those who fought for our nation should have the best health care available. They should have access to jobs, job training, education, and housing.

5. EDUCATION: Education is the single most important factor for our future economy and standard of living. I will work to make sure that our schools have everything they need to succeed. I will work to ensure that every child is able to pay for college.

Representative Shelley Capito

Twelve year incumbent
For ?

1.  DEMOCRACY: Though she said that she was part of the civility caucus in Congress and that she wanted “to debate the issues (February 24th Elkins’ Inter-Mountain), she has refused to debate me. In the same interview the incumbent condemned “all the big money in politics.” But when she filed to run on Jan 27th she boasted that she had already raised over a million dollars for her campaign. It appears that she is not running on the issues, but on her money.

2.  BALANCING THE BUDGET: Ms. Capito supports the Ryan Budget which continues to favor those at the top and would balance the budget on backs of the working people of this country.

3.  JOBS AND THE ECONOMY: In her February 24th interview with the Inter-Mountain she said that “Jobs are always the number one issue in West Virginia.” But she offered no ideas or solutions. Our state is still near the bottom in measures of education and health, and all the other measures of well being. What has Ms. Capito been doing during her long tenure.

4.  OUR VETERANS: Ms. Capito supported George Bush’s reckless rush to war that needlessly put our soldier at risk. Time and again she voted against funding Veterans’ benefits. See footnotes.

5.  EDUCATION: In an email to Chris Wyatt of Harman, WV (see the February 11th Elkins’ Inter-Mountain) she voiced her opposition to reauthorizing The Secure Rural Schools and Communities Act (SRSCA). The SCSRA is a contract with the states which pays the counties, including Randolph, Pendelton, Hardy, and Hampshire, money to replace the personal property taxes these counties loose due to the National Forest land they contain. Last year this was approximately 9.1 million dollars that went to West Virginia schools and communities. It seems that Ms. Capito does not understand the importance of education for our economy and our children. It seems that Ms. Capito would balance the budget on the backs of our children.

He calls it Davis verses Goliath. An Elkins "Occupy" protester and progressive Republican, Michael Davis, is challenging incumbent Shelley Moore Capito for the U.S. House nomination in the Second District. He says it's because she's far too cozy with the big banks she should be regulating.

When Beaurocracy Goes Looking for Somehthing, They are Sure to Find it.

This enormous new sector of the economy has a multi-billion-dollar vested interest in setting up a system to surveil, physically intimidate and prey upon the rest of American society.
